Misaki Oumi bio
My goal as a physical wellness coach and nutritionist is to help you achieve a happy and well-balanced lifestyle that will minimise the risk of future health-related issues. For me, a Healthy lifestyle is much more than just lifting weights. I love helping others see and experience what their bodies are capable of with enough hard work.
I focus on a holistic approach for body and mind to be at their best. I combine different types of stretching, warming up, exercising, and exploring different ranges of movement to balance the body, with eating healthily, breathing mindfully, and getting necessary rest and enough sleep.
I'm passionate about helping others find happiness and feel good about themselves. I believe that when you FEEL GOOD in your body, you can really JUMP in life!!
My story begins with football. I started when my brother started.
And my parents divorced when I was 9. Since then, something changed in me, and practicing football like that was the only way to express my emotions. I found so much joy and progress in football.
But now that I look back, I realise I was protecting myself from sadness or anger I felt but couldn't express. During that time, I injured my back, broke bones, and sprained my ankle often, but I kept playing until it started preventing me from maintaining high performance.
Back then, I didn't know how to recover from injury and bring balance in my body. I didn't know what are the right exercises and how to rest fully. I didn't have anyone from whom I could learn how to live outside the football field. No adult could give me advice. Eventually, I felt it meaningless to continue to play football if I couldn't play well and could not bring my body into joy and balance. I gave up football, hoping that I could find another meaning or passion.
I moved cities, met different people, and travelled around. But whenever I was alone, I felt a deep need for a "Balanced body", a healthy body.
Because whatever I do, I do it in and using my body. I can only enjoy or live fully if it moves right. I always had doubts about my body, but I didn't know what I could do, and I kept living, trying to have fun, connect with people and learn new things.
While working as a chef in Australia, I met an amazing man, a colleague. He was different from everyone else: when I assisted him at work, his concentration and movement was on a level I'd never seen before. His presence opened my eyes and heart toward the unknown, toward worlds I never knew existed. So we became friends, and he told me about Rishikesh in India. It was the very first time I heard the words meditation and mindfulness. I bought the books he recommended and started practising straight away. I still remember realising that the feelings and sensations I had forgotten for so long were returning to my heart. I felt so quiet in my mind! This experience made me want to know more.
So I came to India after travelling southeast Asia, and began a practice of hatha yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Vipassana, which continues through the present day. I then entered a phase where I spent a lot of time doing nothing but practising every day. It made my senses sharper and subtler. My breathing capacity and awareness became greater. But my body still felt misaligned when I ran or played football. I didn't know if this could be healed completely.
Along the way, I experienced social life problems which led me to meet my inner child: very hurt, confused, and trapped in my chest.
Whenever certain situations appeared, I would feel a void and sadness in my chest. I didn't know how to cope with it or where it was coming from. I found myself shutting down from human beings and experiencing depression.
This was when I noticed that my body is fundamentally connected with my emotions and the society around me. Overall healthy means not only the body, but all the other aspects of life.
Whatever I was practicing , I couldn’t bring into daily life.
That was when I realised importance of be aware of the pattern of thoughts, posture, reaction, behaviour, what I do unconsciously in daily life.
In that period of time, I started practising a dance form called contact improvisation, which uses our body fully as a tool to move with others.
Every time I danced, my heart experienced a lot of joy and freedom; it was a similar feeling to playing football. It was the joy of how moving their body makes people smile and of sharing the same smile with others.
This made me want to practice this form more, but my back again started bothering me, and I ran out of money. At that point, I gained some skill in therapeutic massage, so monetising it felt natural.
When I used to give 2,3 massages a day, the pain in my back increased a lot, and even caused neck and shoulder pain. But I had to work, I had to earn a living. So I continued working. Now that I look back, it's clear that I could've learnt more restorative techniques for myself and sought advice about using body more efficiently.
I later contracted a liver infection, putting me in hospital for 3 days. After that, I genuinely felt like I had no more energy to continue living. I realised I had become weak in all aspects of my being. I needed to change myself completely. I cut my hair, started eating differently, and moved to a new environment. I joined a new community that aligned with my goals. I needed to strengthen my body to support my life of movement.
Slowly but surely, I felt changes in my body: I was becoming healthier and more robust. Because of that, every other part of my life started to flow better. Along the way, I gained a broader understanding of food and how to rest. These helped me build my body more sustainably.
Here I am, with all the knowledge I earned to make myself healthier, which I want to share with anyone who needs it. I would love to help you learn how to build a strong body, a healthy mind, and a radiant spirit. We can achieve this by moving according to what our body wants to express, coupled with eating and living in alignment with nature and our environment.
I will make videos of exercise routines you can follow, tips and natural food recipes with deeper insights about the wisdom behind them, along with one-on-one sessions for guidance and counselling.
To be in alignment, knowing your pattern and observe it, feel it, let go of it and choose sustainable progress with just enough hard work.
I am grateful for the difficulties I experienced because they also brought me joy and purpose. I can now understand wide ranges of people, how mind and body health are related, and the crucial relationship between health and food. This empowers me to live my life at peak health, assisting those who enter my sphere to do the same.
