A Few Steps To A More Positive Outlook

A more positive outlook can be literally just a few steps and breaths away! At any point of the day when we feel down, stuck, out of alignment, we can take charge of our emotional state and choose to shift it into a more positive and supportive one. There are many ways but here is a simple and effective emotional release technique that we use as part of the Life Alignment technique to help move stuckness and negative emotions. It can be taken very deep during a session. However it is also very useful to practice by yourself.

Here are the basic steps for you to start.

1. Acknowledgment of how you feel. Take a moment to sit quietly. Close your eyes and allow yourself to connect to what you are feeling. Breathe deeply in the belly, pause and then acknowledge the feeling. Simply say it out loud or write it down ‘I feel….. sad, angry, fear etc.’ It can be any feeling. Let it be and feel how your body is reacting.

2. Second step is acknowledging that you have a choice. So if you have a choice, how would you like to feel instead? What is the opposite of the burdening emotions you are experiencing? For example if it is fear then the opposite would be ‘I choose to feel calm, safe, peaceful etc’. Take a moment to breathe. Connect to your body, say it and write it down. I choose to feel peaceful safe etc… Say it again and again a few times. Feel/imagine what it would look and feel like if you were experiencing that positive emotion. Again breathe deeply into the belly

3. Making space for this positive reality/emotions is the third step. In order to make space for safety, happiness, peace etc…. What do you need to let go? What can you now let go to make space for it? For example it could be judgment, fear, putting myself down, fear of the unknown etc. When you are ready write it down, connect to the body with the breath and say ‘I release fear,judgement etc…. Whatever it is that you wrote you feel you need to let go to make space for a more positive reality for you. Carry on repeating this step for a few minutes connected to the breath and the body. If you feel there is more to it to release, another layer, carry on with this step until you feel an energy shift and a sense of opening to a new more positive feeling.

4. Which brings us to the fourth step. When you start feeling this opening and movement take again a nice long breath and shift now your attention to what you are now able to receive or welcome into your life that was not available before. As you are breathing allow yourself to connect to this open more free energy and what it feels like to you. It may be calmness, strength, love, positivity etc. Whatever it is breathe in, write it down and also say it. ‘I receive, I now welcome in…. Whatever it is, welcome it in as you inhale and allow your body to release and let go of the old on the exhale. Repeat this step for a few minutes until you feel complete.

5. When complete, touch the occipital bones behind the ears and take a couple of long breaths. Drink some water and keep on reminding yourself that you have a choice always 💜
